Fascinating Gershwin
starring Janice Martin

Friday, March 6, 2009
Sterling High School Auditorium

Here comes a great opportunity to enjoy the wonderful, music of George and Ira Gershwin as performed by the triple threat performer (violin, piano, voice) Janice Martin.

Here’s the story: The year is 1931, the place is Times Square – the heart of the Theater district – and the mob owns Broadway. They’ve already chosen their star, so the auditions for the big Gershwin production are a sham… until in walks Melody Starr (Janice Martin). The producers pitch every imaginable curveball to the curvaceous cutie, who wows them as violinist, soprano, pianist, dancer, actress and more. All ably accompanied by a trio of piano, drums and bass.

L’Arte del Tenore – The Art of the Tenor
Beloved Ballads from Opera, Movies and Musicals

“The voice lives to sing of love, conquest, and heartache. From a melting serenade to a spine tingling ‘high C’ the tenor voice has inspired throughout the ages.”

Philip Grant, Todd Jang and Frederik Robert have been identified as “three talented, young, classically trained lyric tenors who have separately been delighting audiences across North America and Europe.” Now together as ROMANZA, they have been winning people’s hearts everywhere they perform. In fact, their official “launch” concert in Victoria sold out 1500 seats.

Accompanied by their wonderful trio of violin, piano and bass, ROMANZA sings original arrangements of such favorites as O Sole Mio, La Donna e Mobile, On the Street Where You Live, Granada and Because.
